"I hate that word down but I love that word Up"

These are the words being shouted out of the blue by my youngest just a minute ago! Wonder where he heard that??:)

you can't always get what you want .
but if you try sometimes  . you just might find  .  you get what you need

Sunday salutations to y'all.
Mini-report:

1. Heel and toe blisters on both feet are still healing from my walk in new shoes last Thursday.

2. I've weaned myself completely from Atkins protein shakes, which for years have been a low-carb, low-calorie go-to "save" when I've craved carbohydrates or sweets, in mid-afternoon, for example, or at night. The protein in the Atkins shakes is milk-based; I want plant-based protein now. So I just had my first "PlantFusion" vanilla shake. Definitely okay. Same high protein and low calories as the Atkins. (One more wean to go:  my MetRx protein, which I love, is also dairy-based. For sure, that will be be the harder of these two staples to give up.)

3. New goal: My body without clothes and viewed from the side, not standing upright but rather bent at the waist, shows no belly hanging down -- at all. (Whenever did this hanging down thing happen?!?)

4. A follow-up: Any one out there have any thoughts or  responses in regard to my question from yesterday, which lingers on?  Q: "What difference does it [all the effort] make?"

5. Any one besides me doing push-ups?

Love,
M

ONE OF MY FAVORITE AMERICANS & FILMMAKERS TAKES A WALK

          By Mark Binelli

michael moore

In the midst of an election season, you'd expect Michael Moore – whose last film, Capitalism: A Love Story, was released three years ago – to be playing his traditional role as liberal provocateur. Instead, he's been most visible as . . . a guy taking long walks. Since March, in what began as a jokey tweet urging his followers to join him on a stroll, Moore's regular #miketakesawalk Twitter outings have drawn thousands.
So how did this begin?
It was a Sunday night. I'd read earlier in the day in The New York Times that more Americans are on antidepressants than go to the movies.
That's depressing in all sorts of ways.
Exactly. I thought I'd tweet that out. This began a little bit of a firestorm. One group started tweeting that Hollywood movies are so bad, they'd make you more depressed. Then a fight broke out between people for and against antidepressants. Finally, some guy tweets to everyone, "I've found that all I need is a brisk walk." I laughed and retweeted him and wrote, "I think he's got the right idea. I'm putting my shoes on right now. Anyone who wants to join me can go." And I went on a 30-minute walk.
And it grew from there?
Yes. The next day, I thought, "I'm gonna try this again." Mind you, I'm not doing this for any reason! I wasn't planning any kind of walking routine. But I got even more responses, and I felt an obligation to keep going. People started tweeting pictures of their walks, or things like, "If you're going at 7 p.m. on the East Coast, do I have to go at 4 p.m. on the West Coast?" Europeans are weighing in: "Seven is too late! That's midnight here!" By the end of the month, I was having too much fun to stop. And I was feeling good, personally.
I think people have been surprised by the lack of a political element.
People say, "What's the cause?" The cause is putting one foot in front of the other. There's honestly no rhyme or reason behind this. I deplore exercise. Diets are a scam. I don't believe any of this stuff. I just started doing it because it was a weird thing to do, and then it became a collective thing to do with thousands of people around the world.

Rule 2 Don't drink your calories

This is  my biggest challenge at the moment. I need to reduce my wine intake. And, juice even trop 50 is no different then drinking a soda.(aha) And,"fruit smoothies that you haven't  made yourself will make you as fat as a Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade float - just like a 32 ounce soda"

"Try seltzer water with lime or  lemon juice.  Stock up on unsweetened, naturally flavored herb teas. Make a quart or so at a time and keep it in the refrigerator to go with your afternoon snack"
LITTLE WIND IN SAILS TODAY
This is one of those mornings. I'm worn-out from the enthusiasm, the trying, the research, the shopping online for things to support the changes I'm making (water filters, walking shoes, juicer, green tea, protein powder), the vigilance. Getting to thinner is a relief. But this morning is a moment of "What difference does it make?"

Oh, and lest I forget: daily face washing, daily sunscreen (rain, fog or shine), facial masks, daily feet moisturizing, seeking shiny hair, hair masks, teeth whitening. To what end, I ask myself?

DOOR #1 OR DOOR #2?

Door 1
Door 2

Is this a trick question? They're both orange! I really don't want to get this wrong. Dear Eeny-Meeny, what should I do?

CUT TO LATER: Got the answer to my question in today's news. Eeny-Meeny has been arrested for stealing pumpkin pies. A video camera caught her sitting in the back of a patrol car still stuffing pie down her throat. The pie made her do it, no doubt. No way do I want to head down that criminal path.

One carrot juice, please.

Rule number 1 Drink a large glass of water before every meal- no excuses!

So, in our  journey we know the power of water. Here's the book's advice which I will try to share these rules from time to time:
At the minimum I want you to drink a large glass of water before every meal.  But, I'd prefer that you drink at least five glasses of water a day, the first one within 15 minutes of waking
  • Make it your premeal policy: drink a large glass of water before every meal.
  • End the day with preparation for a good start the next; put a large, full glass of water on your bedstand every night and drink it when you wake up every morning.
