Made it across the country. Ate nothing all day but fruit, nuts, cucumbers and a few carrots. (I spilled the rest of the carrots on the floor at LAX.) Passing up the airplane food was easy but in First Class where, by some accidental twist of great luck, I was seated, the flight attendant came by with a tray of steaming hot, aromatic brownies topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Didn't cave. And now my eyes are closing now. Until tomorrow.
